Common questions
Is this a sobriety or recovery app?
No. Pourtion is an optimisation tool for people who enjoy drinking and want to keep enjoying it without wrecking the next day. It won’t push you toward zero.
Does it tell me if I’m OK to drive?
Never. Pourtion does not estimate blood-alcohol or fitness to drive, by design. If there’s any doubt, don’t drive.
Where is my data?
On your device only. There’s no account and nothing is uploaded. See the privacy page for detail.
What is a “standard drink”?
Just a rough way to compare drinks so your nights add up consistently. A beer, a glass of wine, or a nip each count as about one; a pint, a double, or a big cocktail count for more; a light beer, less. It’s approximate by design, and you can tweak the presets to match your usual pours.
How does the sweet spot work?
It groups your nights by rounded standard-drink count, compares average enjoyment against average morning cost, and points at the count with the best balance. It’s a personal heuristic, not science.
If drinking is causing harm
Pourtion is for enjoyment and self-knowledge, not a substitute for help. If alcohol is affecting your health, relationships, or safety, these services are free, confidential, and there to talk, any time.
